The Beeswax Wrap Co.
The Beeswax Wrap Company is run by Carly and Fran. They started company in early 2017 as both of them started trying to live as plastic free as possible. Carly was aware of the detrimental effect plastics were having on our environment and Fran was worried about the effects on her and her families health, from chemicals that leech from the plastics into our food and drink. The one item that we struggled to replace was cling film.
Carly had mentioned seeing Beeswax Wraps when she lived in Australia so they thought they would have a go a making some as the only ones they could find were from America or Australia.
After a few ruined irons we finally hit on a really great mix that created beautifully flexible and really well sealing wraps.
Beeswax Wraps are handmade in Nailsworth by their fair hands using organic GOTS certified cotton (in super funky patterns), Pine Resin, organic Jojoba Oil and locally sourced UK Beeswax.
They hand make all beeswax wraps to ensure you get the longest lasting beeswax wrap possible. Because they cut the fabric before they wax it, the edges are sealed by the wax so you don’t end up with wraps that begin to fray after a few washes. We also infuse wax mixture into the cotton for up to an hour, making sure all the fibres of the fabric have completely absorbed the wax mixture. This ensures the wax does not begin to crumble from your wraps after only a few washes.
Why use Beeswax Wraps?
100% natural - Compared to cling film, Beeswax Wraps are all natural so no nasties will leach into your food whilst its being stored.
Keeps your food super fresh - The combination of natural ingredients with the organic cotton fabric allows our wraps to breathe, making sure your food stays fresh for longer. You will find that when wrapped in Beeswax Wraps you will get 3-4 more days out of your loaf of bread, your greens and herbs will stay nice and crunchy for at least a week and your sandwiches won’t be all sweaty when you unwrap them come lunch time.
Clingy but in a good way - Pine resin gives our wraps a natural adhesive making sure your food is sealed tight, the warmth from your hands helps mould the wraps to give a strong seal. And they really do stay sticky even after you have used and washed them over and over again.
Reusable - Rather than using cling film or foil that you throw away after one use, our reusable food wraps can simply be washed in cold water with a little bit of soap and they are ready to roll again. After a 2-3 months just refresh them and whoop whoop off you go again.
Biodegradable - Once you have used your wrap to the max you can pop it on your compost or you can twist up and use as a firelighter.
